Bat Conservation Trust - Head of Conservation Projects

Bat Conservation Trust is currently recruiting for a Head of Conservation Projects to join their Conservation team and lead on managing the delivery of a number of substantial projects in which BCT are partners. These projects are mostly large collaborations with multiple partners and are at various stages in their development and delivery. The projects are located across Britain; it will be possible to join many meetings remotely, but some travel may be required. BCT need someone who will be able to:

  • Represent BCT on project steering groups and other associated high-level meetings
  • Have an overview of progress of the projects and BCT’s input, including finances and delivery of required outputs
  • Line manage some project staff
  • Manage quarterly reporting and claims

Bat Conservation Trust - Head of Science and Monitoring (Maternity cover)

Bat Conservation Trust is currently recruiting for maternity cover for their Head of Science and Monitoring. This post may be undertaken remotely or may be split between remote working and the BCT main office in Battersea, South London. This is a maternity cover contract for 30 hours per week. The key purpose of this role is to lead on the delivery of BCT's science and monitoring strategies. This will include developing and implementing innovative research and monitoring projects, as well as leading the science and monitoring team. The role will act as a source of technical advice on survey and monitoring techniques across BCT and at key external meetings. Find more information and how to apply here.

Plantlife - Invitation to Tender - Campaign strategist – peat-free horticulture

Plantlife and partners including the RSPB, Wildlife Trusts and WWF, are looking for an experienced strategist (or team) who can lay the foundations for an effective political and public campaign to help end the use of peat in horticulture across the UK for our climate and for nature. You will develop a strategy for a partnership campaign to be delivered from 2022 to 2024, whose aim is to secure a legal ban on peat sales and extraction across the UK. You will facilitate input from NGOs and other contacts in the four nations, and propose a strategy for coordinated partnership delivery. Plantlife and partners are open to tenders from individuals, agencies or organisations. They estimate that the project will take 3-4 months to complete, working on a flexible part-time basis.
